Hi guys this past 2/3 days I have been working on solve emoji puzzles. Me and Arnicka where so confused so for the 1st and 2nd ones so we helped each other out. And the rest we did our self's. It was hard at first because i didn't really know what to do but then me & Arnicka worked it out and I ended up finishing the rest of it myself. I was really happy with myself that I got it finished so quickly. This is what I had to do. And then when I finished that we all had to make our own ones this is what mine turned out like :) Is this right Mr Mitchell. By Hollie

Hi Hollie
ReplyDeleteIt's really good to see you trying something that you found hard to do, because if we always do things we find easy we aren't really learning anything.
Let me explain how to solve these puzzles. Let's look at the one on slide 3 of the first slide show.
1. The first row says tulip + 1 = 8
2. This tells us that tulip is worth 7 (8 - 1 = 7)
3. The left hand column says tulip + flower = 10
4. We know that tulip = 7 (see 2 above) so 7 + flower = 10
5. This tells us that flower is worth 3 (10 - 7 = 3)
6. The middle row says flower + tree = 7
7. We know that flower = 3 (see 5 above) so 3 + tree = 7
8. This tells us that tree is worth 4 (7 - 3 = 4)
9. When we look at the equation at the bottom we see:
flower x tree + tulip = ?
10. When we replace the pictures with the numbers we have calculated we have:
3 x 4 + 7
11. Under the BEDMAS rules (google it if you don't know this rule) we Multiply before we Add, so we get:
3 x 4 + 7
= 12 + 7
= 19
See if this helps you to calculate the answers to the rest of the puzzles.
