Aim: To separate the colours from the skittles by using chromatography

1. 5 Skittles

Progress:
Step 1: Get your Equipment set up ready to pour 25mLS of water into the perti dish with the skittles
Step 2. Place skittles into perti dish around edges
Step 3. Pour 25mLS water gently into middle of the petri dish
step 4. Watch as the water removes the dye from the skittles. See what colour reaches to middle fastest

Aim:
I want to find out what happen's to the Gummy Bears when we put them into different liquids?
Prediction:
I think the Gummy Bears are going to grow and soak up some of the liquids .
Method:
Equipment:
- Three solutions- water sugar- and salt
-Four Gummy Bears of the same colour
-Two petri Dishes
-Maker pen
- Electronic Balance
- Beaker
Steps:
1. Get your Equipment
2. Lable petri dishes with, DRY, WATER , SALT WATER, SUGAR WATER
3. Weigh the Gummy Bears and record their weight on the petri dish
4. Add 40ML of the solution into the petri dish

Yellow ( 2.20 ) too 1.88
Green ( 2.22 ) too 3.15
Red ( 2.35 ) too 4.62
FINDINGS-
The water that was included in the first Gummy bear petri dish made the Gummy bear form a dry weight of ( 2.35 )To a wet weight of ( 4.50 ) The differences between the two weights was that in the water it absorbed more liquid.This means that the gummy bear absorbed the amount through the progress of osmosis.
The salt water gummy bear petri dish had an chance of a dry wight of (2.20 ) To a wet weight of (2.60)The difference in these weights are that the salt water one grew more...
The sugar water solution in the petri dish with the gummy bear made this gummy bear weigh (3.29) this means it absorbed (1.07 )water total.
The gummy bear that changed the most was the gummy bear in the normal water.
Aim: To safety light my hands on fire.

Athletics this past week,This past week we have been doing long jump,60m,100m,relays,high jump. And today we did relays.And I can tell you one thing I have improved over the years a lot.On Thursday this week Athletics is coming up and we have to dress up and out block colours I am gold/yellow and we doing long jump,60m,100m,relays,high jump.I enjoy doing relays I think its fun cos you have race people and cheer people on.In relays i'm in a team with my friends kaycce,Addison and skyla. In Nga Tangata H1 yesterday we had to do a hero and Heroines thing and it was about what hero's do. So it had sentences saying, "A hero is a" and then you would have to finish the sentence so i wrote "A hero is a person that cares about everyone" So it was just stuff like that. Hi guy's this week we have been working on our Business.All Kahui's did it so for example so of the people next to me when the market day was happening did poly foods but their name was pacific vibes. We did this all yesterday All of the people/kids,teachers,parents where sweating because it was so hot.Me and my group made a little cup with M&ms at the bottom and all so Skittles in different cups the cups were like little wine cup almost. But anyway we had the cups with M&ms and skittles at the bottom of the cups And then we had a cup cake in top of the M&ms and skittles at decorated the top.
All different schools came so buy the stuff we made There was food,weat bags,lip gloss there was heaps of thing.The day started at (10:30) And didn't end till (12:30) so we were all so tried. My groups name was Sprinkaholics the people in my group were- jasmine,Cayleigh,Arnicka,Maringirangi.

This past week we have been working on Early Polynesian navigation. We had to research about Polynesian's this is what i wrote about it.

How do you find your way around?
The Polynesian way finders used different ways of navigating these are the 3 ways they did it using stars,clouds and birds.
They had to use there hands to navigate at night because they didn't have to technology we have now
North stars are fixed points; they mark the point north.
Southern cross showed where the south was. There's a line across the sky connected to 2 other stars then you look down on an angle that you have found south.The Polynesian use the stars to see where north south east and west is sometimes they use their hands to navigate.
Big group of clouds could be above the mountains so you don't know there are mountains there.
Clouds reflect islands because it could be raining or it would be over top of the water on the island.They use the clouds to find the way the wind is blowing because the way the wind is blowing the clouds move the way the wind is blowing.
Birds near islands can only go so far or they will have no food and they will be tired.
Birds can only fly 190km from land so they can find their way back.They use the birds to find the island because they can see how the birds' wings are flapping their wings.
Way finders navigated by the North star fixed point and they used clouds and birds.The clouds the way finders were looking for are stratus clouds and lenticular clouds.
